What is BBN BTS?
The goal of the documentary was to create a short film that highlighted and appreciated the people who help keep BBN running smoothly - the bus staff, kitchen staff, cleaning staff, and many others. We wanted to learn more about their jobs and personal lives in order to give them the recognition and attention they truly deserve.
How did we do this?
I worked on this documentary with two friends and helped them with the editing process wherever needed. They would set up interviews with staff members, record them, and then edit 30–60 minute interviews down into about four minutes. That was by far the biggest challenge: cutting the footage down. In order to make an engaging film, you need to include only the most essential moments that will keep viewers interested. However, it was difficult deciding which parts of each person’s story were the most “relevant,” so we are planning to create Instagram reels and short clips to highlight the meaningful moments we were unable to include in the final project.
I also spent a lot of time creating captions for one of our interviews that was conducted in Spanish. As a Spanish speaker, I was able to translate and edit the captions into the video to ensure viewers could understand the interview while still allowing the interviewee to speak in the language she felt most comfortable using.

I chose to do this as another part of my “New Experience” adventure, even if it did not officially fall under that category in my proposal. I had always been interested in film, but throughout high school I was much more involved in the performing arts and never really had the opportunity to explore filmmaking. I truly appreciated this experience because it taught me not only about the challenges of filmmaking, but also how rewarding it can be to create something meaningful and worth people’s time - something that reflects not only our work, but also the stories and efforts of the people featured in the film itself.

Breads and Spreads
To fill some of my extra hours and spend time with friends, I joined Dr. Cyr’s bread-making seminar. The seminar was organized so that we met every Tuesday, shared the bread we had made with the class, and then learned the recipe for the following week. The seminar itself lasted about an hour, while the bread-making process usually took around four hours. I took every chance I could to make bread with friends. Although bread-making is much more complicated than it seems, it is also a fun and rewarding process.
